School Social Workers serve as integral members of a community's education team, playing a central role in creating a positive environment at schools. They are especially skilled in identifying and providing services to students who face serious challenges to school success, including poverty, special needs, discrimination, abuse, addiction, bullying, loss of a loved one, depression, and other barriers to learning. School Social Work Week is March 3-9, 2024. Join us as we celebrate our school Social Workers, Nelson Clark at Haas Elementary, and Natasha Kubiak at Genesee Jr/Sr High School as well as all school social workers across the nation. We appreciate their work in helping students achieve academic success!

This year will see an extra day at the end of the month — February 29. If you weren't already aware, that's a little date with a big impact. Without sticking an extra day in February once every four years, experts say our calendar seasons would stop aligning with the planet. The summer months would turn cold and the winter months hot due to how Earth rotates around the sun.
If we didn't observe leap years, our seasons would be thrown off, as our equinoxes and summer and winter solstice would no longer align with the seasons. To address this issue, Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar, a solar calendar, which included a leap year system. When the Julian calendar was later refined into the Gregorian calendar in 1582, the tradition of adding a leap day to February persisted.

Come support our Varsity Boys Basketball team as they take on Vassar in Districts Monday 2/2624, 5:30 pm at Lakeville HS. Tickets must be purchased on Go Fan.
